Presenting
2022-2023 Cotillion Debutante
Jordan S. Witherspoon
Dear Family and Friends,
Hi, my name is Jordan Shea Witherspoon and I am a senior at Mallard Creek
High School in Charlotte, NC. I am an artist
that loves anime, drawing, listening to music, reading and writing
stories. I love traveling with my family
and playing with our family dog. My love
for story-telling has grown tremendously over time and the animation forum attracts
me the most. Art, to me, is the ultimate
form of self-expression. Since middle
school I’ve had an overwhelming desire to share my passion with the world. Upon graduation, I have dreams of attending
the University of North Carolina School of the Arts to pursue a degree in
filmmaking with a concentration in animation.
My dream is to create and produce my own animated show!
I am excited to participate in the 2022-2023 Debutante Cotillion sponsored
by the Charlotte Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated in
partnership with Deltas of Charlotte Foundation (DOCF). This fundraising scholarship pageant has been
in existence for many years and allows young ladies the opportunity to raise
funds for their college education while participating in educational, cultural,
and service oriented activities. The
Annual Cotillion Ball culminating event and the presentation of the Debutantes
will be on April 8, 2023 where I hope to be crowned Miss Legacy.
I hope that I can count on your support as this is an investment in my
future. Thank you in advance for any
contributions that you make and for believing in me and my dreams!

The Cotillion
In 1963, the Executive Committee of
the Charlotte Alumnae Chapter was exploring fundraising ideas for the chapter
when Grace Soloman, a chapter officer, conceived the idea of a Cotillion as a
fundraiser. Under the leadership of
Bertha Maxwell Roddey and Grace Solomon, the first Cotillion took place on
April 17, 1964 where 20 young ladies were presented. The Cotillion Season spread over several
months, as it does now, with the culmination being the Cotillion Ball. The legacy continues.
History of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority is a public
service organization whose purpose is to promote human welfare. At the inception of Delta Sigma Theta in 1913
at Howard University, Washington, D.C. the twenty-two founders envisioned an
organization pledged to serious endeavors and community service. These goals are realized through the
Sorority’s major programmatic thrusts, which continue to focus on economic
development, political awareness and involvement, physical and mental health,
international awareness and involvement, and Arts and Letters.
